I was disappointed. This book came up when I searched for African American children's books. I open it to find a girl who does not look African American to me. It's not necessarily her skin color but her skin color matched with her hair, she's not a Black child. I bought it so my child can see children that look like him. Very disappointed.

This is a very cute book and we love that it shows people of color in the illustrations. The only thing is that we purchased this for a little boy and the book is about a little girl. I could not tell this from the outside. We just have to adapt it a little when reading it. Still, its a great book for African American children.

My daughter doesn't have much interest in the accuracy showing off her feet or ears. It's all the same to her. I got this book because it sounded sweet and was looking for more brown-skinned children's books. One read, and we were very much aware of the location of her toes. She loves this book...and now her toes. The condition of the book itself: even though it's new, it is warped. I guess our copy was stocked on the shelf incorrectly.

This is such a cute book, but one of the primary reasons for buying the book was because the main character is Black. I buy all types of books, but honestly, sometimes it's difficult to find books whose main character is Black and I want my baby to see people of all races reflected in her books so I buy books with all different types of characters. The words in this book reflect "brown toes", etc., but the illustrations look like an Asian child. It's fine and will just be another representation to add to our library which is great, but I was expecting illustrations that reflected the words.

This is one of the few books both my son and I enjoy (at under a year he likes the books are repetitive and I prefer ones with a storyline). I do wish this book was available in a boy version, I don't have an issue reading my son books about girls but since this is written in the second person, you read it as if you are talking directly to your child. I do read the line as "the 'boy' with the cute button nose."

This is really the most adorable book! The rhymes are wonderful and the illustrations are terrific and so cute. My baby really loves the big two-page reveal at the end. I find myself saying the rhymes to him when playing with his toes, and he recognizes them and loves it. So cute!

Sweet book, teaching self-love and appreciation to little brown girls. I love it! I'll tell all my friends with daughters, nieces, grandchildren, students, etc.

Do you know how difficult it is to find great black children's books? This one was perfect for our little neighbor boys that moved in across the street.
